You can always experiment with this recipe and swap each ingredient with your very own to adjust the recipe according to your favorite regular taco recipe. Of course, if you are experienced in the kitchen, you won't be having any issues finding your own perfect combination. In fact, most keto enthusiasts love experimenting with keto recipe. As you can see in most of our articles, we always claim that the keto diet is, at the same time, too much liberal and strict. Liberal it is because almost all keto recipes allow you to use your creativity and imagination to edit the recipes, but it;s strict and disciplined because you always must follow your calories calculator(according to the keto meal plan). Let's check the ingredients for this recipe:

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika

For the meat:

  • 1 lb ground turkey chicken or lean beef
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar

For the salad bowls:

  • 2 cups roughly chopped green leaf lettuce or Romaine
  • 2 cups butter lettuce leaves
  • 1/2 cup sliced black olives
  • 1/2 cup chopped bell peppers I used yellow
  • 1/2 cup shredded green and purple cabbage
  • 1/2 cup grape tomatoes
  • Lime wedges

Optional Toppings:

  • shredded cheese
  • pico de gallo
  • salsa
  • cheese crisps

For the dressing:

  • 1 large avocado pitted
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt

HOW TO PREPARE

First, combine all spices for the taco seasoning. In a small bowl put all seasoning ingredients and blend nicely.

Use a nonstick skillet to cook the ground meat. Put the skillet over medium heat and chop the ground meat into small pieces. Add the meat into the skillet and cook for about 3 minutes. After the first 3-4 minutes of cooking, add 1 tablespoon of the taco seasoning and continue cooking until the meat is fairly prepared.

Add the vinegar and tomato paste to the mixture and continue cooking for about 2-3 additional minutes. According to your taste, you can add more seasonings, salt, and pepper. Then, add tomato sauce paste and vinegar while you extend the cooking for additional 2 minutes (make sure that everything is heated through). Add more seasoning according to your taste.

Once you finished with the first steps, you need to prepare the dressing. Add the avocado, lime, cilantro, orange juice, olive oil and salt to a food processor. Blend everything until you have a smooth and homogenous substance.

To finish the recipe assemble the bowls. Add lettuce in a single bow and top with cooked turkey, olives, bell peppers, avocado, shredded cabbage, and cherry tomatoes.  There you can add the additional/optional toppings and your dish is ready to be served.
