CROQUE MONSIEUR HOT POCKETS IN KETO WAY
This recipe is inspired by the traditional Croque monsieur. This traditional French dish is popularized after 1910 and even today is the standard quick meal in all french cafes and lounge bars.
Our keto-way Croque monsieur is very close to the traditional recipe, but the dough for the 'bread' pockets is grain-free, low in carb and all ingredients are carefully adjusted to be fully compatible with your keto diet. The preparation and method of cooking are also very simple and you can prepare this recipe in less than 20 minutes.
Traditionally, this recipe is a popular breakfast meal, but you can cook it for any occasion. Your kids are definitely going to love this new breakfast.
INGREDIENTS
- 3/4 cup / 85g grated mozzarella
- 1/2 cup / 50g sunflower seed flour or sesame seed flour
- 60 g good quality ham
- 50 g Gruyere cheese or cheddar, sliced or grated
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard optional
HOW TO PREPARE
First, it is recommended to prepare the dough. Put the mozzarella cheese in a heat-proof bowl and heat in the microwave for 1 minute. Meanwhile, make sure you stir nicely after and put the cheese for additional 20-30 seconds until fully and nicely melted.
Add the sunflower seed to the mixture and mix again. Then, use your hands to create a ball and knead. The dough must not get cold, so work quickly.Roll the dough between two sheets of greaseproof paper or a silicone mat and a sheet of grease-proof. Roll into an oblong shape.
When your pockets are finally ready for filling, spread ham in the center and top with mustard and cheese. You can add more cheese if you want to make it very cheesy (also you can add some cheddar cheese to enrich the taste-optional).
After your pockets are ready, place them onto a baking sheet and bake in the oven for around 15 minutes. Before putting them in the oven, make sure you have tiny air holes on top of each pocket.
You will know they are ready when the pockets' outside turns golden brown and crispy. Slice each pocket in half and enjoy this awesome recipe. Bon appetite!
