Keto Clam Chowder Soup Recipe

Chowder soups originate from the North American states. This is a good cream soup version adjusted to the traditional American taste. However, not all chowder soups can be good for keto. Recently, keto enthusiasts have found an inquisitive way to change how to keep the original chowder soup taste and, at the same time, to make it extremely low in carbs and keto-friendly.

The way of preparing/cooking is easy and there shouldn't be an issue even for a beginner to make this chowder soup.

DAIRY-FREE KETO CLAM CHOWDER RECIPE

As we've already said, this recipe is gluten-free, dairy-free, and low in carbs. The best thing about this recipe is the clams. They are rich in protein and many vitamins. In clams, you can find selenium, zink, B-6, iron, and magnesium. In fact, this clam chowder recipe is healthy and useful for your keto diet. These vitamins and minerals can improve your overall health, so even if you're not on keto diet, feel free to include it in your family menu. Let's check the ingredients:

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 head cauliflower medium
  • 1/2 onion medium, sliced
  • 1 pound steamer clams with shell 68g yield meat w/o shell, shucked
  • 6 tablespoons ghee 84g
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 sprig rosemary
  • Pepper to taste

HOW TO PREPARE

Cut the cauliflower into 4 equal parts. Add three of them to a pot and save one for later. Before adding the cauliflower to the pot, ghee the pot and cook onions. After this, add water, salt, and chicken broth. Bring the mixture to a boiling point, cover the pot, and reduce to medium heat. Cook for 10 more minutes.

After the mixture is cooked, put everything into a blender and blend nicely until you have a homogenous smooth substance. Then, put the chowder substance back in the pot. 

Chop the remaining cauliflower piece into smaller pieces and add them to the pot, as well. Also, add 1 sprig of rosemary and the clams. Cook on medium heat for additional 10 minutes and stir everything well. After this, your keto clam chowder is ready for serving. You can add more salt and pepper according to your taste.
