The truth behind alcoholic beverages and keto is not complicated. As you already know, alcoholic drinks are high in carbs. This makes them incompatible with the basic principles of the keto diet. However, there are different types of alcoholic drinks that are actually keto-friendly.

We will begin with the most important piece of advice regarding this topic. The worldwide most popular drinks: the wine and the beer, are not keto-friendly! Be aware that they are very high in carbs (especially beer) and they can mess up your ketosis. If you are a great fan of beer or wine, you should find low carb products that you can consume. Anyways, we will try to be honest and recommend to switch to other drinks.

Spirits are in general good for keto. However, you must be cautious about how you consume them, especially when mixing. For instance, gin is often mixed with tonic. Alcopops should be also avoided because of their high amounts of sugar.  Below we will add some interesting keto-friendly drinks that are popular within the keto community, but if you don't really like any of the following, spirits are in general the best alcoholic drinks for those on keto.

The Best Alcoholic Drinks on Keto

1. Dry Wines

This can be a good substitution for regular wines. Also, dry wines are both great as a standalone drink or combined with food. The best thing about dry wines is that they contain around 2 grams of net carbs per glass.

2. Dry Martini

Try mixing martini with gin or vodka- it doesn't matter this is the winning combo for keto alcoholic drinks! White spirits are keto-friendly and combined they make tasty and strong cocktails. If you worry about carbs, forget about them! These drinks are almost carb-free.

3.Skinny Bitch

The Skinny Bitch cocktail is a popular vodka-based drink. It is very tasty and refreshing at the same time. The best benefit for you as a keto-drinker is that you have 0 carbs to worry about. This cocktail is very fancy, easy-to-make, and will definitely become one of your favorites.

4. Whiskey

The good old whiskey is also on this list. If you like a glass of whiskey during your keto diet just go ahead and have it. High-quality pure whiskies have 0 carbs. This drink (if pure) is also a gluten-free drink and you can combine it with soda, water on the rocks, a slice of orange, etc.

5. Champagne and Prosecco

You can still have your good old-fashioned celebrations with some classy champagne. Champagnes and Prosecco to Cava (sparkling dry wines in general) are keto-friendly because they are very low on carbs. If you like sparkling wines, you can still celebrate in the same old manner despite being on keto.
