Slow Cooker Keto Ham With Coke
The secret of this recipe is the crockpot. The composition of ingredients is low carb and keto-friendly, and there are 4 ingredients only. We think that the method of cooking is not hard and anybody can give it a shot. If you want to enrich your keto meal plan, this is a must! Make sure that before cooking you buy ingredients of high quality. Also, is good to know that those who are not following a strict sugar-free keto diet should use brown sugar or regular coke, instead of Zevia cola (or zero sugar Coke). The slow cooker will give a truly authentic taste to the ham and use the full 'potential' of each ingredient.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 4 lb. spiral-sliced boneless ham (make sure it will fit in your crockpot)
- 1 can of cola (keto/low carb followers use: a sugar-free cola such as Zevia)
- 2 tablespoons bourbon
- 1/2 cup brown sugar (keto/low carb followers use: erythritol brown sugar)
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup reserved juices from crockpot after cooking
HOW TO PREPARE
The first step is to prepare the crockpot well. Grease with butter or spray with nonstick spray. Unpack the ham, place the sliced side down in the pot and pour the cola. On top of the ham pour 1 tbs of bourbon.
Start cooking the ham. Cook until the ham temperature reaches 140 degrees and this should not take more than 20-25 minutes per round. Check the ham each hour and control the temperature. Once the ham is heated nicely, remove it from the slow cooker, cover it in foil, and set aside. For glaze use the remaining juice left in the pot.
On medium heat melt butter and add 1 cup of the juices from the slow cooker, 1 more tbs of bourbon, and brown sugar. Mix gently the ingredients in the pan until they get to a boiling point.
After you finished cooking the glaze, set it aside and let it cool. Then, brush the glaze all over the ham evenly on the outside and between the slices. You can choose your own garnish and decoration. Bon appetite!
